\u201cBut you ask, \u2018How have you loved us?\u2019 <\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
\u201cWas not Esau Jacob\u2019s brother?\u201d the <\/span>Lord<\/span><\/span> says. \u201cYet I have loved Jacob, <\/span>\ufeff3\ufeff <\/span><\/sup>but Esau I have hated, and I have turned his mountains into a wasteland and left his inheritance to the desert jackals.\u201d <\/span><\/div>\n
\ufeff4\ufeff <\/span><\/sup>Edom may say, \u201cThough we have been crushed, we will rebuild the ruins.\u201d <\/span><\/div>\n
But this is what the <\/span>Lord<\/span><\/span> Almighty says: \u201cThey may build, but I will demolish. They will be called the Wicked Land, a people always under the wrath of the <\/span>Lord<\/span><\/span>. <\/span>\ufeff5\ufeff <\/span><\/sup>You will see it with your own eyes and say, \u2018Great is the <\/span>Lord<\/span><\/span>\u2014even beyond the borders of Israel!\u2019 <\/span><\/div>\n
Blemished Sacrifices <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/em><\/div>\n
<\/em>\ufeff6\ufeff <\/span><\/sup>\u201cA son honors his father, and a servant his master. If I am a father, where is the honor due me? If I am a master, where is the respect due me?\u201d says the <\/span>Lord<\/span><\/span> Almighty. \u201cIt is you, O priests, who show contempt for my name. <\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
\u201cBut you ask, \u2018How have we shown contempt for your name?\u2019 <\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
\ufeff7\ufeff <\/span><\/sup>\u201cYou place defiled food on my altar. <\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
\u201cBut you ask, \u2018How have we defiled you?\u2019 <\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
\u201cBy saying that the <\/span>Lord<\/span><\/span>\u2019s table is contemptible. <\/span>\ufeff8\ufeff <\/span><\/sup>When you bring blind animals for sacrifice, is that not wrong? When you sacrifice crippled or diseased animals, is that not wrong? Try offering them to your governor! Would he be pleased with you? Would he accept you?\u201d says the <\/span>Lord<\/span><\/span> Almighty. <\/span><\/div>\n
\ufeff9\ufeff <\/span><\/sup>\u201cNow implore God to be gracious to us. With such offerings from your hands, will he accept you?\u201d\u2014says the <\/span>Lord<\/span><\/span> Almighty. <\/span><\/div>\n
\ufeff10\ufeff <\/span><\/sup>\u201cOh, that one of you would shut the temple doors, so that you would not light useless fires on my altar! I am not pleased with you,\u201d says the <\/span>Lord<\/span><\/span> Almighty, \u201cand I will accept no offering from your hands. <\/span>\ufeff11\ufeff <\/span><\/sup>My name will be great among the nations, from the rising to the setting of the sun. In every place incense and pure offerings will be brought to my name, because my name will be great among the nations,\u201d says the <\/span>Lord<\/span><\/span> Almighty. <\/span><\/div>\n
\ufeff12\ufeff <\/span><\/sup>\u201cBut you profane it by saying of the Lord\u2019s table, \u2018It is defiled,\u2019 and of its food, \u2018It is contemptible.\u2019 <\/span>\ufeff13\ufeff <\/span><\/sup>And you say, \u2018What a burden!\u2019 and you sniff at it contemptuously,\u201d says the <\/span>Lord<\/span><\/span> Almighty. <\/span><\/div>\n
\u201cWhen you bring injured, crippled or diseased animals and offer them as sacrifices, should I accept them from your hands?\u201d says the <\/span>Lord<\/span><\/span>. <\/span>\ufeff14\ufeff <\/span><\/sup>\u201cCursed is the cheat who has an acceptable male in his flock and vows to give it, but then sacrifices a blemished animal to the Lord. For I am a great king,\u201d says the <\/span>Lord<\/span><\/span> Almighty, \u201cand my name is to be feared among the nations. <\/span><\/div>\n
