Good Friday one week later…

We had a great Easter weekend at Wesbtook and the Venues. With more than 1,600 in our 6 services we broke all kinds of church records, so, that was a blast.

More importantly it was a pretty powerful weekend of worship and teaching.

Each year we have a slightly/poorly attended Good Friday service, and many have asked about it wishing they had been able to attend.

During that service we used this video to prelude the taking of the Lord’s Supper. So, for those who missed it, here’s a tase of our Good Friday service.

Post a replay and let me know what you think!

My wife is awesome

My wife Kathy sent me this email that she had written as a reply to a forward, and I thought everyone should read it.

You’ve probably gotten the same gazillions of email forwards about our country, the state of the world and all the evils there in. Everyone seems to have the answer, but instead of using it they just come up with more emails about how bad things are; usually quoting false news stories, made up quotes and out of context statistics.
Truth is… I never read forwards, especially if I’m in a whole list of people who got it. It’s my choice, for i am King of Spamalot. Continue reading “My wife is awesome”

Don’t just do something, stand there!

Okay, so, here’s one of the most confusing things ever: are we supposed to work hard as believers, or do we just totally trust in God and wait to see what He will do? I’ve heard sermons tell me to do both, and even worse I’ve been to church growth conferences where one expert says our churches aren’t making the grade because we’re lazy, good for-nothings and then the very next guy says we’re faithless idiots because we try to do it all ourselves. What’s Love Got To Do With It

WEB_7dayWow… it’s cold here in Kansas today. Snow and the whole big winter show, and the Addis Family loves it. I’m sure we’ll be out in the elements trying to make a snowman from the .067 inches that has fallen as soon as school is out (you gotta love those kids). But, right now… no way. I’m inside the warmth of a coffee shop typing away.

I don’t feel like going out there.

It makes me wonder how many of the decisions I make are based on the fact that I do or don’t feel like doing something. Continue reading “What’s Love Got To Do With It”

What Were Those Directions Again?

So, here’s a riddle for you. What takes longer to get than a tax refund? Yes, you got it… Andy updating his blog!I’ve received a few emails asking me to update, but when I got a face to face, “Hey buddy, let’s get with it” I had to come to terms with this fact. I have blogging issues.

So, my bad, but here we go…

I’ve had a little time to do some thinking since my wife sent me to a Mavs game in Dallas for the B-day today…. here are the official props by the way… She rocks! Continue reading “What Were Those Directions Again?”
